     VISITS CHINA.

On the morning of September 4, 2024, President Xi Jinping, met with visiting Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, who came to attend the Beijing Summit of the FOCAC.
Xi Jinping said that this year marked the 60th anniversary of China-Tanzania diplomatic relations, and the two countries' struggles for national liberation had been cemented in solidarity by the elder generation of leaders; through mutual respect and mutual trust, friendship had developed for the pursuit of national rejuvenation and still continued to be strengthened while striding forward on the modernization path. China is ready to work with Tanzania to comprehensively promote and deepen the China-Tanzania comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, so that China-Tanzania relations will better benefit both peoples and pass on the traditional friendship between the two countries from generation to generation. The two sides should strengthen exchanges of governance experience, enhance political and strategic mutual trust, and deepen practical cooperation for mutual benefit. China is ready to seize the summit as an opportunity to facilitate new progress in the re-activation of the Tanzania-Zambia Railway and join hands with Tanzania to improve the network of combined sea-rail transport in East Africa, turning it into a demonstration area for deepening the high-quality China-Africa cooperation under the BRI.

Xi Jinping emphasized that it was in Tanzania that the external publicity of China's Africa policy of the new era was first made. Xi Jinping told that during the visit to Tanzania in 2013, he announced the principle of Sincerity, real results, amity, and good faith for China's Africa policy. In March this year, Chinese and African scholars issued together with the Dar es Salaam Consensus in Tanzania, a consensus embodiment of the development path and vision of countries in the Global South. The relations between China and Tanzania not only epitomize the trend of history in the development and growth of the Global South but also have very important conceptual value and a leading role in it. China is ready to work with Tanzania to make China-Tanzania relations a model for China-Africa relations and the cooperation of the Global South, contributing more to the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan said she has a profound memory of the visit to China in 2022 and is glad to come again to China to attend the FOCAC Beijing Summit. China has positively implemented the outcomes of previous summits, and the relevant cooperation has played an important role in promoting the economic and social development of African countries. She believed that the Beijing Summit will make new contributions to deepening Africa-China friendly cooperation and vigorously advance industrialization and agricultural modernization in Africa. China is the reliable and indispensable partner of Tanzania. The Revolutionary Party of Tanzania enjoys a brotherly friendship with the Communist Party of China; it stands ready to make good use of the Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Leadership School, deepen training on party building and exchange of experience on state governance with China, and constantly expand practical cooperation in various fields. The Tanzanian side highly appreciates the Belt and Road Initiative put forward by President Xi Jinping and is glad to witness the re-activation of the Tanzania-Zambia Railway during this visit. It is ready to actively work with China in advancing Belt and Road cooperation to bring more tangible benefits to the people.

During the summit, it is expected that China and Tanzania will sign a number of bilateral cooperation documents in connectivity, agricultural trade, among others.
